In Year Three, we have had a very busy start to the term. This is just a small part of what’s been happening in the Organised Owl’s classroom.
In Mathematics, we have been learning all about fractions! We have danced with fractions, found fractions in Maltesers (yum!), played a lot of fraction card games and even found fractions in our playground. We have been focusing on fifths, quarters, eights, halves and whole fractions. As you can see by the pictures we have been having a great time.
In English, we have been focusing on poetry. We have loved creating poems, especially free verse poems about spooky forests and Haiku poems about nature. We have also used the Thinking Hats to make sure that we are using all the different types of thinking when discussing and reviewing poems.
In Religion, we have been appreciating God in all his wonder and learning more about Baptism. We have also linked in with literacy and written some wonderful poems about our questions and wonders about Our Heavenly Father.
In HASS, we have been focusing on Volunteers and the important role they play in our community. We have had a volunteer fire fighter come and talk to us about the important role he plays in the organisation. As you can see from the photos we loved Mr. Mathews coming in for a special visit. We are now coming up with ideas and planning on how we can volunteer in our local community. So, watch out for us being out and about!
