Did you know that young children are far more likely to know how to use a smartphone than to tie their shoelaces? On Wednesday 1st November, we were treated to an incursion from our friends at ‘The Athlete’s Foot’, where were we encouraged to have a go at tying shoelaces. We had a fantastic time and tried really hard to master those tricky laces! Please enjoy our photos from this event.
We would also like to take this opportunity to wish all our Kindy families a very Merry Christmas. Enjoy your well-deserved holidays! Thank you for all your help and support throughout the year; we appreciate everything you do.
God bless you all,
Mrs Lenzarini, Mrs Leader and Mrs Hughes.

Speech and Language Skills

Speech and language skills are extremely important in helping children to do well at school and interact with others. As part of this focus, Saint Joseph’s have speech pathology students from Curtin University working with our Kindergarten children on a weekly basis. The Curtin students are supported by a supervising speech pathologist.
Please take a look at our photos. Here, you can see the Kindergarten children working with the speech pathology students, also known as ‘The Lovely Ladies!’

Kindy Update Term 2

The Kindergarten children enjoyed an amazing dinosaur incursion from our friends at DinoWorld! We were able to see and touch lots of fossils as well as role play being a palaeontologist. The presentation included Melanie showing us dinosaur skulls, claws, teeth and brains of assorted dinosaurs, such as the Stegosaurus, Triceratops, Allosaurus, T-Rex and Camarasaurus. The absolute highlight of the incursion was James T. Rex; a life sized inflatable Tyrannosaurus Rex!
We were also fortunate to be invited by our friends at the Murray Library to help celebrate National Simultaneous Storytime, which is an annual campaign that aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books. We thoroughly enjoyed this year’s book, ‘The Cow Tripped Over the Moon’, written by Tony Wilson and illustrated by Laura Wood.
Our lovely school health nurse, Ingrid, who checks our eyes and ears, also showed us how to blow our noses properly AND reminded us where we throw our used tissues...in the BIN!
Please enjoy our photos from all these events.

Welcome to the St Joseph’s Kindy Webpage! We hope you will come and visit at least once a term.
The children have settled in beautifully and are eager and enthusiastic. Our topic for this term is ‘Families’. We have all brought in a family photograph and have been talking about family members and what makes our families special. If you look at our photo gallery, you can see us sharing our family pictures that we drew.
We also went to our parish, Saint Augustine’s, where we met Father Gayan. He showed us some key objects in the church, like the altar, statues, font, lectern, tabernacle and cross. We practised blessing ourselves with holy water and genuflecting.
After the unseasonal rain, we noticed the Murray River had risen right up to our school fence! We decided to investigate and couldn’t believe how high the water was!
Please enjoy our photo gallery and we hope you visit us again soon.
